Bringing Her Home

[These events took place in December of 2016]

The day had arrived…the car was going to be loaded up on a rented U Haul trailer and driven from Connecticut to its home for the next several years in southern Maine. I enlisted the help of my sister’s boyfriend as he owns a truck and we set off with the trailer in tow.

The car, somewhat stubbornly, came out of the garage and into the light for the first time in what I imagine was years. The seller’s driveway had a short straight piece before a sharp steep left turn. We were forced to rock the car back and forth and slowly turn the car around so it could be rolled onto the trailer.

After what was probably a solid hour of moving the car. We finally got it onto the trailer and strapped down.

With that, we were off and had about a four and half hour ride ahead of us. We stopped at a truck stop to use the bathroom, where I took this picture. This was also where the obligatory comment from a trucker came in. He asked if it was a 73….not quite!!

The rest of the ride was uneventful. I was dropped off along the way but I heard it made it the rest of the way without issue. At around 10PM it made it to its new home.
